Panel Description - There are so many factors that contribute to consistent success.  These might include pushing the right buttons with instructional quality, professional development for teachers, terrific parent involvement, or any number of other factors.  School Principal Panelists will discuss what factors have most significantly contributed to their consistent success.


(Panelists include Darryl Williams and Dan Cotton of the Brighter Choice Charter School for Boys, LaNolia Omowanile of Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, Ira Victor of Grand Concourse Academy Charter School, and Neal Currie and Andrea Ralph of Albany Community Charter School)


12:30 - 1:00   - Panel 2 "Enhanced Board Communication


Panel Description - The pressure is on (more than ever) to deliver a high quality educational product.  The communication between a Board of Trustees and the school's leadership needs to be operating at its most optimal level in order for the Board to most effectively govern and the leadership to most effectively operate.  Board and administrator panelists will discuss what methods they use to continuously monitor their school's overall health.  Among these methods will be shared examples of high quality monthly board dashboards. 


(Panelists include Chris Bender, Executive Director of the Brighter Choice Foundation, Steve Axelrod, Board President of the Ark Community Charter School, Mary Theresa Streck, Principal of the Ark Community Charter School, and Cooper Westendarp, Finance Director for PAVE Academy Charter School)


1-3 pm.  Authorizer Panel 


Panel Description - During these important two hours, Pasek Consulting will moderate a panel discussion where each NYS Authorizer will have an opportunity to share insight on current topics such as "Replication, Expansion, and Serving Higher Grades,"  the NYS assessment, board effectiveness, recent changes in law and compliance, what makes a 'highly renewable candidate' as well as other topics.


(Panelists include leaders from the NYSED Charter School Office, SUNY's Charter School Institute, and NYCDOE Charter School Office, as well as Melissa Jarvis-Cedeno, Principal of Albany Leadership Charter High School for Girls and John Taylor, Principal of Green Tech High Charter School)
